If you're wondering how often you should inspect your rental home, our advice to you is to take a look at the inside of your property at least once every year. When you do an interior inspection annually, you can make sure the tenant is compliant with the lease and you can also take the time to check for any deferred maintenance that needs attention at the house. Give your tenant at least 24 hours notice, and go inside to conduct a thorough inspection.

You also want to drive by the property once in a while, maybe on a quarterly basis. You can check to see if the lawn and the landscaping look good and to ensure the tenant is not parking on the grass. Driving by provides an opportunity to see if the tenant is taking care of the property. Obviously, if there is something wrong on the outside of your house, you're going to definitely want to take a look at the inside.
